As predicted by many of us, Nintendo did release some delicious new hardware titled the "Wii U". While our writers did not have a chance to actually attend the press conference, our colleagues over on Kotaku posted a great hands-on video, highly recommend watching it.
Today, Nintendo's Katsuya Eguchi, confirmed that the system's proprietary disc format will hold 25 Gigabytes of data. That is definitely an impressive size for, essentially, a handheld device.
Overall, here are the technical specifications of the new Wii U console.
- High definition display, 1080p resolution ( HDMI output )
- Internal flash-based media storage, upgradeable via USB and SD cards
- Games ship on proprietary iDensity discs of unspecified, but "large capacity" (25GB confirmed)
- 6.2" touchscreen on New Controller, non-HD resolution
- Games available as DLC
- Compatible with Wii
- Release date around April 1, 2012 to December 31, 2012.

It all depends on the price and if there are even any good games, looks amazing though.
Umm... this one looks like an Xbox haha :P. Is this one going to have a blueray player yet?
nintendo entering the graphics war again? should be interesting
Definitely going to wait after it has been on the market for a bit, not to mention taking the price into consideration. Where is the video?
i really want one!!
can't wait to see one in action!
I can't wait for it to come out! the controller looks awesome!
I'm confused, isn't what they showed at E3 just a new controler with fancy stuff for the Wii?
Multiple times it was called a controler but other times even a console, it seems no one actually knows what it should be.
will def not get it cause i dont need it...i'm pretty happy with what i've got atm
oh wow, looks awesome :O
I wonder how well the touchscreen will implement itself. the game lineup is certainly impressive.
Dude i saw the new graphics for the Nintendo Wii U. I was shocked... then shocked.... then went into a paradigm shift. rofl
Japan =ALL Technology.
Great bloggin, friend!
the handheld looks like a gam3egear
I like your blog op really nice :)
Wow, really cool blog. I love E3. Best expo evar.
I'm holding off until I see that it's not going to become just another Nintendo gimmick. HD, that's great, but my 360 & PS3 have already been doing that for the passed 4 years for me. Nintendo's going to need to price the system right, and put out some solid, exclusive games before I'm interested.
That looks so bad :(
I'm really interested in the texture-mapping feature I heard a snippet about. I'm always one generation of console behind though, ha.
I'm holding off my opinion until i see what it can do. Looks cool though :)
Having two screens is always an RPG fan's wet dream.
1080p.. :)
This will either be really good or really bad.
Wow, that is very impressive looking!
I wonder how much it will cost
